This year Colorado voters will face 14 state-wide measures for the November 3rd election. Votes will be cast on wide-ranging topics such as graduated income taxes, changes to business taxes, creating new rights, education funding, determining who can compete in school athletics, personal information on mail in ballot envelopes, creating new criminal penalties and more. According to the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County (LWVCC), Colorado is one of only half the states in the country that allows its citizens to bring forward measures to change the state constitution.

The League is offering a forum to help make sense of the ballot issues this year to be held on Monday, October 12 from 12pm to 1pm at the Chaffee County Public Safety Complex, 200 Steele Dr. in Buena Vista. A video of the forum will be available later at the lwvchaffeecounty.org website under the Videos tab.

According to their website, LWVCC is a non-partisan organization that does not support or oppose any particular political parties or candidates. Their mission is to educate and empower voters through candidate forums and presentations on topics that impact the county’s residents. LWVCC also works to defend democracy through careful study and advocacy of issues.

A similar forum jointly held with the BV Public Library will be on Thursday, October 8 from 4 – 6 pm at the Chaffee County Public Safety Complex.

Anyone wishing to express personal opinions about any issues should email here prior to the forum: should email . Voters can look up specific measures here: Vote411.org.
