The San Luis Valley Potato Festival is tomorrow from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm at Chapman Park in Monte Vista.
The event is a fun day of activities that celebrates the harvest of Colorado Potatoes in the San Luis Valley. Tomorrow’s festival includes guided agricultural tours, a chef demonstration, food and craft vendors, kids’ games, a mashed potato dunk tank and the 5K Tator Tot and Spud run.
Organizers describe the annual gathering as much more than an ordinary food festival. It is a celebration of San Luis Valley agriculture and an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn more about an industry that has deep roots in the region.
According to the website, the San Luis Valley is the second-largest fresh potato-growing region in the United States. More than 150 potato-growing families have made the region their home for generations.
