Chaffee County Deputy Clerk Sophia Gibb recently graduated from the nationally recognized Certified Elections/Registration Administrator (CERA) program and delivered a keynote address to election professionals from across the country at the Election Center’s Annual National Conference.
The CERA designation is awarded through the Election Center’s professional education
program and recognizes election officials who have completed extensive training focused on
election administration, voter registration, leadership, ethics, and the laws and practices that
support secure and effective elections.
Gibb’s graduation represents the commitment from the Chaffee County Clerk and
Recorder’s Office to professional development, ensuring local elections are administered by
knowledgeable, well-trained election professionals.
In addition to graduating from the CERA program, Gibb was selected to deliver the keynote
address at the national conference. In her speech entitled, “Race Day: What Elite Athletics Taught Me About
Running Elections,” Gibbs, a two-time Paralympian and two-time Paralympic medalist, drew on her experiences in both
elite athletics and election administration to explore the similarities between the two worlds; preparation, teamwork, resilience, trust and performing under pressure.
