The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect accused of shooting a man in the back at the beginning of August.
The sheriff’s office says that on August 1st at around 10:30pm, deputies received a report of a shooting on Fremont County Road 7. They learned that a man had been taken to the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation revealed that the victim got into a confrontation with a person who was reportedly speeding on the county road. The victim was shot in the back during the confrontation. The Mountain Mail has identified the victim as Steve Finch of Salida.
The suspect vehicle was described as a white four-door wagon or rounded hatchback with an unknown license plate and make and model.
