Chaffee County Public Health presents the Embracing Aging Expo – Transforming Well-Being Through Community, on Friday, September 11th from 8:30am to 3pm at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

The Embracing Aging Expo is a free, community-wide event offering a full day of learning, resources and opportunities to connect.  The event will feature keynote presentations, workshops, demonstrations, health services and activities for older adults, caregivers, families, and community members. The aim of the expo is to empower older adults to realize their ability to take more control over their wellbeing and how community partners can assist and in increasing their healthspan.

This year’s keynote speaker, certified health specialist, Jaclyn Cheves, will speak on lessons from Blue Zones. Blue Zones are communities around the world where people routinely live vibrant lives well into their 90s and beyond. Research highlights how everyday lifestyle practices, including regular movement, strong social connections, a sense of purpose, healthy eating patterns, and supportive community environments, can contribute to longevity and help people maintain well-being as they age.

The presentation will be followed by a complimentary Blue Zone-inspired lunch!

The Expo will also offer a variety of hands-on activities and community resources. Participants can enjoy Tai Chi, juggling, ChaffeeWalks, Drums Alive, e-bike demonstrations, trishaw rides, and Mini-Blessings mini horses. Health and wellness resources will include A1c testing and vaccines, AcuDetox, longevity screening, as well as resources from local and national organizations and businesses.

Registration is highly encouraged and can be completed by visiting the Embracing Aging website at: https://www.embracingagingchaffee.com/
