Construction on the Highway 50 sewer line replacement project is ahead of schedule and is advancing into a new phase as work nears completion in Poncha Springs and shifts toward Salida.

Final sewer connections in Poncha Springs are expected to be completed by the end of the month. As this work wraps up, equipment will be moving to the lower end of the project near the intersection of Scott Street and Old Stage Road at the entrance to the Two Rivers commercial area. Beginning in early September, temporary closures of Oak Street and Old Stage Road will be necessary.  Detours will be in place.

The US-50 Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project is a major infrastructure investment that will replace and upsize approximately 4.4 miles of existing sewer main between Salida and Poncha Springs. The project is designed to increase wastewater system capacity, improve long-term reliability, and support future growth throughout the regional service area.

Residents and businesses should expect temporary traffic impacts, including lane shifts and detours, while access to properties will be maintained whenever possible.
