Colorado Parks and Wildlife says it recovered the body of a man who drowned Thursday in Eleven Mile Reservoir.
Officials say CPW responded to a kayaker who flipped into the water during high winds. Officers were able to pull the man out of the water and attempted CPR for over an hour. The man was declared dead at the scene. He has not been identified.
According to a CPW press release, while the man was wearing a life jacket, it did not fit properly and covered his face after he fell into the reservoir. CPW recommends using a Coast Guard approved life jacket while recreating on the water in Colorado. Life jackets should be buckled or zipped, fitting snugly around the abdomen to prevent the device from slipping.
The Hartsel Fire Department, South Park Ambulance and Flight for Life also responded to the incident.
