Dear Salida Schools Community,
As another school year begins, I would like to welcome everyone back on behalf of the Salida School District Board of Education. We look forward to another exciting year of learning and growth.
First and foremost, thank you to our outstanding returning staff for your continued dedication to Salida students. We are also delighted to welcome our new staff members who have chosen to join our school community. We know you will make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Our sincere appreciation goes to the district’s facilities and maintenance team, whose hard work throughout the summer prepared our buildings and grounds for students and staff. We also recognize our business office staff for their tremendous effort implementing the district’s new employee insurance program. Their work is essential to supporting the people who serve our students every day.
As buses begin rolling and students return to classrooms, we ask everyone in the greater Salida community to help keep our children safe. Please watch for students walking and biking to and from school, especially during busy morning and afternoon hours, and always obey school bus stop arms. Those few extra moments of patience help ensure every child arrives safely at school and returns home safely.
We also remind homeschool families that students may partially enroll in selected academic courses and activities while continuing their homeschool education. Families interested in these opportunities should note the enrollment deadlines.
The Board extends its gratitude to our local medical providers who supported the August 3 school physical event. Their partnership helps students participate in athletics and activities while removing barriers for many families. We are fortunate to live in a community that consistently steps forward to support our children.
We also recognize the many community partners whose collaboration strengthens Salida Schools every day. Thank you to the Salida Police Department for helping keep our campuses safe, the City of Salida for its recreational partnership, Ark Valley Voice, KHEN, Heart of the Rockies Radio, and Mountain Mail for sharing our students’ stories, Sol Vista Counseling for providing critical mental health services, and Colorado Mountain College for creating valuable educational opportunities. This is only a sample of a long list of community partnerships that makes Salida such a special place.
Public education has always been a partnership among our schools, families, businesses, and community members. Thank you for continuing to support the students and staff of Salida Schools.
