The Fremont County Coroner has identified the body found on July 20th on Skyline Drive as 44-year-old Shawn Michael Dixon. Hikers discovered the remains.
Dixon has been missing from his Canon City home since September 2023.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation. Dixon’s cause of death is pending autopsy results. The Fremont County Coroner stated that because of the minimal skeletal remains, the cause of death of death is still being determined.
According to the Canon City Daily Record, Dixon was last seen September 12, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m. as he was getting out of a taxi near Rudd Park. He was supposed to meet his family later that evening at “Triangle Park” but did not arrive.
