A Fourth of July traffic stop in Park County turned into a high-speed pursuit that crossed two counties before ending on Trout Creek Pass.

According to the Park County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle speeding through Bailey. The driver refused to stop and accelerated, leading deputies on a pursuit over Kenosha Pass.

Investigators say the suspect reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, drove approximately 90 miles per hour through Jefferson, and ran the red light at the Fairplay intersection.

Deputies deployed spike strips at Antero Junction, but the vehicle continued into Chaffee County. A second set of spike strips was successfully deployed, disabling the vehicle and bringing the pursuit to an end on Trout Creek Pass.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Kody Haring. He was booked into the Chaffee County Detention Center on charges including felony eluding, reckless driving, driving without a license, operating an uninsured vehicle, and multiple additional traffic offenses.
