The Colorado Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to expect heavier traffic and longer travel times on mountain highways during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

CDOT is also urging travelers to be aware of heightened wildfire danger and to use extra caution while traveling throughout the state.

To help reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, the department will suspend most highway construction and maintenance projects beginning tomorrow and continuing through Sunday, July 5.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions before heading out for the holiday weekend.
