The City of Salida has officially announced there will be no Fourth of July fireworks display this year because of current fire restrictions and the elevated risk of wildfire.

City officials said the decision was made in coordination with Salida Fire Department Wildfire Chief Chris Bainbridge.

Although the fireworks have been canceled, Salida’s Fourth of July celebration will continue as planned. The day begins with the annual parade at 1 p.m., followed by festivities in Riverside Park featuring food, beverages, children’s activities, and live music.

Officials encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the holiday festivities while helping reduce the risk of wildfire.

The towns of Cripple Creek and Silver Cliff have also canceled their Fourth of July fireworks displays because of heightened fire danger.
