The Colorado State Patrol is asking for witnesses or dashcam footage related to a two-vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries on U.S. Highway 50 just east of Texas Creek on Monday afternoon.

According to preliminary reports, the driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado was attempting to pass other vehicles in a no-passing zone when the pickup collided head-on with a Jeep Wrangler.

The driver of the Jeep and a passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the 18-year-old driver of the Silverado was arrested and charged with vehicular assault and reckless driving.

The Colorado State Patrol is continuing its investigation and is encouraging anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage of the incident to contact investigators.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
