Colorado’s drought conditions worsened this week, with new data showing that nearly the entire state is now experiencing some level of drought.

According to figures released yesterday, approximately 95 percent of Colorado is currently in drought conditions, an increase of nearly 8 percent from the previous week.

State and local officials continue to respond to the growing impacts of the drought, which has been fueled by below-average moisture, low snowpack, and persistently warm temperatures.

Fire agencies across Colorado are actively responding to multiple wildfires, while concerns about wildfire risk remain elevated in many areas of the state.

Local governments have also begun implementing water conservation measures and outdoor watering restrictions in an effort to protect water supplies and reduce the risk of shortages during the summer months.

Officials are encouraging residents to conserve water whenever possible and remain vigilant about fire prevention as drought conditions continue to intensify across Colorado.
