Salida, CO- The City of Salida is excited to announce the return of the Salida Summer Plaza, beginning Thursday, May 21, 2026. Starting at 7:30 a.m., F Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Sackett Avenue to Second and a half Street to create a vibrant pedestrian-focused downtown experience for residents and visitors alike.
To help ensure a smooth closure process, all vehicles must be removed from F Street prior to 7:30 a.m. on May 21. City Public Works crews will begin closing the street one block at a time until the full closure is complete.
Participating businesses may begin setting up outdoor seating, displays, and other plaza features starting at noon on Thursday.
The Summer Plaza transforms downtown into an active community gathering space where people can shop, dine, connect, and enjoy everything that makes Salida special during the summer season. Community members are encouraged to come downtown, support local businesses, and experience the energy and excitement of the pedestrian plaza.
As a reminder, the Summer Plaza is a pedestrian zone. For the safety and comfort of everyone enjoying the space, visitors are asked to dismount bicycles, scooters, and skateboards when entering the closure area.
The City looks forward to another successful summer of community activity downtown and thanks residents, businesses, and visitors for helping make the Salida Summer Plaza a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all.
