Rita Blamey Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rita Virginia Blamey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Hooper, Colorado, Rita was a vibrant spirit whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone she met. She made her home in Salida, Colorado, where she created lasting memories with family and friends.

Rita dedicated much of her life to her work as a cashier in a Local Market, where her cheerful demeanor and genuine care for others made her a beloved figure in the community. She embraced life with strength and resilience, instilling these values in her family, and her legacy will be carried on through them.

Rita is survived by her son, Thomas Blamey; her grandchildren, Eric, Kevin, and Troy Blamey; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kodi, Maizie, and Trey. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, reflecting the love and joy she brought into their lives.

In this time of reflection, we encourage all who knew Rita to hold her close in their hearts, remembering the love and light she so freely shared. May her spirit guide us in kindness, just as she did throughout her life.

Rita was preceded in death by: John Blamey, Carpio Marquis, Mary Marquis (Martinez), Frank Blamey, Rose Gregory, Elizabeth Ortega, Mary Marquis, Pauline Gowen, Pete Marquis, and Manuel Marquis.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Columbine Manor Nursing Home for the care she received from everyone there.
