SALIDA, COLO – Travelers may experience delays along County Road 371 on Wednesday, May 6th and Thursday, May 7th between 7:00am and 5:00pm each day, while the County’s contracted geotechnical/tunneling engineering firm performs testing of the Midland Tunnel structures. Annual testing is required to assess the structural integrity of the rock and identify potential safety concerns requiring mitigation. Access through the tunnel portals will be limited while the tests are being conducted.
Delays of up to 30 minutes for traffic passage in the vicinity of the CR371 tunnels are possible due to the intermittent closures of the tunnels required for the testing. The engineering evaluation should be completed by the end of the day and traffic flow along CR371 should return to normal for Friday, May 8th. Alternate route advised. Traffic can go around and access CR371 and CR373 (Midland Circle) from the north end of CR371. Access to the trails and parking/camping areas on CR375 will not be affected.
