SALIDA — Salida Walking Tours will return in a limited format for the 2026 season following a year-long closure due to health issues, with a full schedule expected in 2027.

Owner Steve Chapman said tours will be reduced to twice per week in 2026 as he continues recovery. The business, founded in 2018, will also renew partnerships with local nonprofits as part of its relaunch.

The 2026 season will include the Salida Wild West History Tour from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Cleora Cemetery Tour will return in September, followed by The Original Salida Ghost Tour in October. A new holiday offering, the “Holy Nights & Mountain Lights Christmas Tour,” is planned for December.

Chapman said a broader expansion is planned for 2027, including four core tours: the Salida Wild West History Tour, The Original Salida Ghost Tour, and two new additions — the Salida True Crime Tour and the Salida Historic District Tour.

Seasonal tours are also expected to expand in 2027, including a new “Women of Salida – A History Tour” in March.

Salida Walking Tours focuses on locally researched history and community-based partnerships. Details on tours are available on their website, www.SalidaWalkingTours.com
