The City of Salida is urging residents to take voluntary steps to conserve water as drought conditions persist across the region. City officials say this proactive effort is aimed at preserving limited water resources, protecting infrastructure, and preparing for potential future shortages or periods of high demand.
Although mandatory restrictions are not currently in place, Salida is encouraging the community to adopt simple conservation habits now to help avoid stricter measures later. Residents are asked to closely monitor their water usage and improve irrigation and overall consumption practices.
The City has indicated that mandatory restrictions could be implemented if water demand reaches or exceeds 90% of its treatment capacity.
Meanwhile, the Town of Buena Vista has already enacted outdoor watering restrictions. Residents must follow a designated schedule based on their address:
- Odd-numbered addresses: Water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
- Even-numbered addresses: Water on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
- No lawn watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- No watering allowed on Mondays
Buena Vista officials are also asking residents to water only when absolutely necessary as drought conditions continue.
