Chaffee County, CO – Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) is pleased to announce that it is offering a final innovative five-week health and wellness program to residents 55 and over. The Aging Mastery Program® (AMP) was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and has been successful at helping older adults build their own playbook for aging well. CCPH has offered seven successful cohorts with over 90 participants in Chaffee County.
This is a wonderful opportunity for older adults to participate in, and reap the benefits of, this cutting-edge program. CCPH is currently recruiting older adults, ages 55+ to participate in its final five-week educational program. The NCOA will no longer be supporting the program, and therefore, CCPH will not be permitted to offer the class again.
Most classes provide a community expert speaker on the day’s topic as well as a personal challenge or task. Molly Bischoff, CCPH’s AMP instructor shared, “Meaningful connection is the strongest outcome that I have witnessed with AMP. The honesty and compassion each participant show one another in class conversations brings inspiration, perspective and fun to each class. With the lived experience and wisdom participants share in class, the learning goes far beyond what is offered in the textbook.”
AMP is a fun, innovative, and person-centered education program that empowers participants to embrace their gift of longevity by spending more time each day doing things that are good for themselves and for others. The program encourages mastery—developing sustainable behaviors across many dimensions that lead to improved health, stronger economic security, enhanced well-being, and increased societal participation. Juanita Ward, a graduate of the fall 2025 cohort in Chaffee County shared, “The Aging Mastery Program was both inspiring and practical. Molly created a warm, welcoming environment where we could learn, share experiences, and support one another. I left each session with tools I can use in my daily life and a renewed focus on aging well while maintaining independence, health, and quality of life.”
CCPH will host the classes at the Colorado Mountain College (CMC) in Salida beginning April 16th from 2:30-4:00 on Mondays and Thursdays through May 18th. “We are thrilled to be offering this class at a nominal charge of $75 thanks to partnerships with the CSU Extension, CMC, and CCPH,” said Molly.
If you are interested in registering for the program, email Molly Bischoff at or call 970-309-9145.
