The Salida Fire Department is preparing for what could be a busy fire season by holding a series of live-fire training exercises this week.
Training will take place behind the department’s new firehouse at 507 Scott Street beginning today and continuing through next Wednesday. Residents in the area may notice smoke during the early morning hours as crews conduct the drills.
City officials say the smoke is expected and part of a planned, controlled training operation, emphasizing that there is no cause for alarm.
According to the fire department, live-fire exercises are a vital part of firefighter preparation. The training allows crews to experience real-world fire behavior, strengthen safety practices, and maintain the skills necessary to respond effectively to emergencies throughout the community.
The Salida Fire Department thanked residents for their understanding and support while firefighters carry out the essential training exercises.
