Red Flag Fire Warnings are in effect for much of the state today as strong winds create dangerous fire conditions. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 45 miles per hour, significantly increasing the risk of rapid fire spread.
Officials have declared a no burn day, meaning all forms of open burning are strictly prohibited. Residents are urged to avoid any activities that could spark a fire, including outdoor burning, fireworks, or equipment use that could generate sparks.
In response to the heightened fire danger, Xcel Energy announced plans for another round of public safety power shutoffs in northern Colorado. The utility company says the precautionary outages are intended to reduce the risk of power lines igniting wildfires during periods of extreme wind.
Authorities are encouraging residents to stay informed, follow local restrictions, and prepare for possible power outages as conditions remain volatile throughout the day.
