Barry Morphew, the man accused of killing his wife in 2020 and concealing her body in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, entered a not-guilty plea during a court appearance in Alamosa on Tuesday.

During the hearing, Morphew waived his right to a speedy trial. Attorneys for both the prosecution and defense agreed to move forward with a jury trial scheduled to begin on October 13. The trial is expected to last approximately six weeks.

Morphew has been out of custody since September, when he was released from the Alamosa Jail after posting bail. The case continues to draw widespread attention as it moves toward trial later this year.
