Salida, Co — Get ready to welcome 2026 with a heartwarming Salida tradition! On December 31, the City of Salida, alongside generous support from High Country Bank, is excited to host the Salida New Year’s Big Heart Drop, a magical community celebration in the heart of downtown.
This beloved event features the lowering of Salida’s giant illuminated yellow heart (approximately 8 feet tall!) from the top of the Salida Fire Department’s ladder truck, raised more than 50 feet into the night sky. The single 9:00 PM drop makes this a family-friendly and early-evening celebration for all ages.

Enjoy a festive program at the intersection of F Street and Sackett Avenue, including music, community fun, and a warm Salida welcome. - 9:00 PM — Big Heart Drop
Celebrate the (almost) New Year as the heart descends from the Fire Department’s ladder truck, synced with a live countdown visible to attendees.

Pedestrians are encouraged to gather in these areas. Parking is available across the F Street bridge and throughout downtown.
