The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has officially wrapped up the final phase of the Highway 285 and Colorado 9 intersection improvement and bridge replacement project in Fairplay.
The newly completed intersection now features two through lanes and a dedicated turn lane in each direction, a significant upgrade designed to better accommodate the area’s growing year-round traffic.
According to CDOT, the project aimed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support local and regional travel through Fairplay. The addition of new lanes is expected to reduce congestion and make it easier for residents, commuters, and visitors to navigate the busy junction.
The completion marks a major milestone in CDOT’s ongoing efforts to modernize critical transportation routes across Colorado’s mountain communities.
