On September 23rd, 2025, at approximately 9:00AM Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Alec Coscarella observed a motor vehicle near the summit of Poncha Pass on Highway 285 south of Poncha Springs (Chaffee County) that was pulled over on the side of the road with no license plates. Deputy Coscarella contacted the occupants of the vehicle and identified the front seat passenger as Thomas Anthony Cosentino age 53 from Grand Lake, CO.
As Cosentino exited the vehicle Deputy Coscarella observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle which led to a search of the interior of the vehicle. During the search of the motor vehicle multiple drug paraphernalia items were seized along with about 8.27 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 2.21 grams of suspected cocaine and 6.07 grams of powder fentanyl. Cosentino was also found to have an active warrant out for his arrest from Jefferson County, CO, alleging contempt of court, $2,000.00 bond.
Cosentino was taken into custody and transported to the Chaffee County Jail where he was held on a $7,000.00 total cash or surety bond for the warrant and additional charges of: Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine Greater than 7 Grams a Class 2 Drug Felony, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Fentanyl Greater than 4 Grams a Class 2 Drug Felony, and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine Less than 4 Grams a class 3 Drug Felony. Cosentino is considered innocent unless/ until proven guilty in a court of law.
