The La Plata Fire, burning southwest of Twin Lakes along the Chaffee and Lake County line, has grown to 133 acres with 0% containment as of last night.
A total of 105 firefighters are working on the incident. The fire remains entirely on National Forest Service land, and no evacuations or pre-evacuations have been issued.
Investigators have determined that the fire was caused by an abandoned campfire. Authorities ask anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact law enforcement.
While no fire restrictions are currently in place on Forest Service or BLM lands, Chaffee County is under Stage I fire restrictions.
The public is urged to avoid the area to allow crews to focus on containment efforts.
