The season began with a pair of intense games for the Buena Vista Demons on the girls and boys side as they hosted the Rye Thunderbolts in the opening game of the year.

The girls would struggle in the first quarter matching the Rye intensity, but would recover for the final three before falling 46-32. Mady McFee led the way for the Demons with 16 points and 9 rebounds unofficially.

The boys would find themselves in a wild affair which would thunder up and down the court at a breakneck pace at times, but the final score wouldn’t reflect the pace. BV held on for a 30-27 win on their home court, led by Tucker Storms who earned player of the game honors with 10 points and 5 rebounds unofficially.
