Chaffee County residents have the opportunity to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste this Saturday during Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Day. The event will take place from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

Residents are encouraged to clean out their sheds, barns, garages, and under-the-sink cabinets to get rid of items such as:
– used oils

-antifreeze

– solvents and thinners

– light bulbs

– fire extinguishers

– pesticides

– paints

– propane cylinders

Please note that certain items will not be accepted, including explosives, ammunition, fire alarms, radioactive waste, commercial wastes, appliances, and electronic waste.

This recycling event is organized in partnership with the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association and is made possible through financial support from Chaffee County, the City of Salida, and the Towns of Buena Vista and Poncha Springs.
