Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home 203 E Sackett Ave Salida, CO 81201 Frederick Dale Quick, age 83 of Salida, passed away on September 27, 2024 at his home in Salida with his wife by his side. Mr. Quick was born June 4, 1941 at Pawating Hospital in Niles, Michigan to Dale and Monabelle Quick. Mr. Quick graduated from Niles High School in 1959. He managed a clothing store before being drafted into the Army in 1964 by LBJ. He was discharged in 1966. He then went to work for IBM from 1966 to 1970. After a hunting trip to Colorado, he fell in love with the mountains and decided to move from Michigan to Salida in 1970. He bought the Poncha Lodge Bar and Grill with a childhood friend Dick Mack. After Selling the Lodge he went to work for Dr. Wendel Hutchinson on the ranch. He enjoyed the hard work and learned a lot about ranching. In 1973, he bought a small ranch which he resided in until he passed. Mr. Quick sold cars, insurance with Farm Bureau and shared a partnership with Gary Hill at the Crossroads Bar and Grill. He went to work for Century 21, Wes Hill for 30+ years until he retired in 2020. Fred married the love of his life, Beverly in 1993. They enjoyed a second home in Lake Havasu and trips to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Fred loved the outdoors, Country Music, gag gifts and funny ‘dirty” songs. He loved to hunt, ride horses, golf and gamble. He enjoyed a day trip to Cripple Creek and scratch tickets and was known to make a mean Bloody Mary. Mr. Quick was preceded in death by his parents and son John Quick. He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Jodi (Kevin) Hyatt of Delta, CO, stepdaughters Samantha (Kenny) Shake of Salida, CO, Roberta (Clay) Perry of Ft. Collins, CO and Nichole (Billy) Vidmar of Canon City, CO. Grandhildren Charlie and Jackson Hyatt of Delta, CO, Jessi (JT) Scange of Saguache, CO, Blake (Luke) Baker of Protection, KS, Evan (Makayla) Perry of Corpus Christi, TX, Justin Shake of Poncha Springs, CO, Layne Carpenter of Salida, CO, Jake Carpenter of Canon City, CO and Max Shake of Salida, CO. Great Grandchildren Logan and Gordy Scanga, Dawson and Stetson Baker and sister Nancy Carroch of Poncha Springs, CO. Because Fred loved a good celebration that is what the family and Fred have chosen to do, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
