Vicki Lynn Melton, died July 26th, 2024 in Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida Colorado.
On March 29th, 1951 Vicki Lynn Flowers was born to Robert Joseph and Eva LaVaughn (Pippin) Flowers at the Rio Grande Western Hospital in Salida Colorado.
Vicki graduated from Buena Vista High School in June of 1969 and then from Sterling College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in May of 1978, she’d then begin teaching for the Buena Vista Kindergarten program.
Vicki married David Eugene Melton at First Baptist Church on July 2nd, 1983. In marriage they had two sons John David Melton, and Carey Lynn Melton.
The family moved to Texas in 1990 where Vicki taught at Maude Logan Elementary and then later at Oaklawn Elementary where she would educate kindergarten through second grade until 1994.
Vicki returned to Buena Vista in 1996. During this time, Vicki began working with her mother Eva Flowers of Eva Flowers Realty and received accolades for her success in the field being named “Realtor of the Year” in September 1997.
She was a member of both Christian Woman’s Club and Bible Study with the Stone Croft Bible Study groups. Her favorite scripture is an excellent sample of how she led her life as it is in the verse Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
A service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 2nd at Mountain Heights Baptist Church in Buena Vista with Joe Chambers and Dan Ehlers leading the service. There will be light refreshments served.
