Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want
to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, adolescents,
and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider
relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and making you ill. If visibility is less than five miles of
smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
Outlook: Heavy smoke has been observed Wednesday morning near the Interlaken Fire in the Twin
Lakes area, with smoke also extending southward along State Hwy 24 and the Arkansas River into
Americus and Buena Vista. Air Quality Healthy Advisory extended for parts of Lake & Chaffee County
through Thursday Morning.
