The Cotopaxi Pirates baseball team made a trip to the elite eight last season, with a lot of the success coming from now senior Chance Gulliford, who led them past defending state champion Caliche Buffaloes.
During his junior year, Gulliford posted a 0.65 ERA and threw 9 complete games in 13 starts. He also struck out 104 batters, bringing his career total to 231 in three seasons with the Pirates.
Cotopaxi may play at the 1A level, but the numbers Gulliford put up were too much to avoid attention, gaining him offers and attention from college baseball programs from across the country.
Gulliford will be playing basketball and baseball for the Pirates this season.
