The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is currently totaling the state’s crime statistics for 2023, but the numbers released so far are showing a downward trend in certain crimes.
The CBI shows just over 32,000 violent crimes took place in 2022. In 2023, fewer than 27,000 violent crimes occurred.
Car theft is another crime that appears to have been perpetrated less often in 2023. More than 47,000 car thefts took place in 2022. Fewer than 35,000 car thefts were reported last year.
