‘Tis the season to have holiday fun with our pets. Surveys vary, but according to rover.com, 95% of pet owners will buy a Christmas gift for their dog, cat, rabbit, bird, fish – for any and all pets.
It is the most popular holiday to buy presents for our non-human friends, even surpassing birthdays. “Rover” adds that the average cost of their pet gift purchases is about $36, but at least 5% claim they have spent over $100 and a few over $1,000!
Friends and relatives of pet owners buy gifts not only for them but also for their pets, adding to the celebration of joy for these special “critters.”
Pets also appear on family holiday cards, often decked out in holiday attire, and travel to family gatherings because they are family.
Dog owners take their furry friends to see Santa, get a massage, or have a special outdoor, winter romp or play date.
Cat owners laugh as their purr buddies try to help wrap presents or contentedly curl up in empty bags and boxes, especially after going bonkers with a catnip toy.
Pets are definitely family as Christmas fun with them shows. If you would like to add warmth to your family and cheer to your lives, consider adopting a dog or cat from AVHS this holiday season. There is nothing more heartwarming than providing a deserving companion animal a loving, fur-ever home. Contact AVHS at ark-valley.org or call 719-395-2737.
