The Buena Vista Christmas Opening is Saturday, Dec. 2nd, with activities all over town including a Chocolate Walk, Parade of Lights, Polar Plunge, and a craft fair.
The annual Chocolate Walk takes place from 9 am to 5 pm. Participants visit local businesses and collect Chocolate Walk Stamps to win prizes. Cards are on sale now at the Holiday Craft Fair at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum. Cards are $3 for one or $5 for two. There will be prizes of $100, $200 and $300.
The Holiday Craft Fair runs from 9 am to 4 pm at the Museum. The annual Chili Cook-off also is taking place at the museum along with pictures with Santa.
The Buena Vista Library is sponsoring a local author fair from Noon to 3 pm.
The Polar Plunge happens at 1 pm at the Surf Hotel. Participants will take an icy plunge into the Arkansas River to raise funds for the Toys for Tykes program.
The Parade of Lights will roll down East Main at 5:15 pm. The parade begins at the community center and ends at the Splash Park. Staging begins at 4 pm. At the end of the parade Santa Claus will read “T’was the Night Before Christmas” and light the town tree.
The Collegiate Peaks Chorale will perform at Buena Vista High School this afternoon at 3 pm. Admission is free bit donations will be accepted.
The Mini Blessings Holiday Light Show continues in McPhelemy Park each night through Sunday, Dec. 3rd, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Cost of the Mini Blessings fundraiser is $10 per car.
