The sexual assault trial of Herbert Lucas Scott is in its fifth day in Chaffee County District Court.

Jury selection took all of last Thursday and most of Friday. After opening statements from the prosecution and defense, the first witness called to the stand was the alleged victim who testified for more than two hours. She said her relationship consisted mostly through social media messaging.  She told the jury that she was not looking for a sexual relationship but over the course of time, he kept pushing her for more.

She gave a detailed description of the alleged sexual assault which she says took place at the Doolittle Ranch owned by Scott’s parents, Marc and Melissa Scott.

Yesterday, the court heard testimony from a “blind” expert witness who knows nothing about the case but educated the jury on the effects of sexual assault on the victim and their families.

Also yesterday, Colorado Bureau of Investigation Agent Kevin Koback was called to the stand. The jury heard a recorded interview with Koback and the victim.

The trial is expected to continue through Friday.
