The countdown to leaf-peeping season in Colorado’s high country is underway.
Leaf-peeping season in Colorado begins in the northern part of the state in early September and spreads south through the month of October. In addition to latitude, elevation plays a role in the onset of the change—higher means earlier.
Forest experts are saying it should be a good year for fall colors in areas of the state that got good moisture this summer.
The peak for the aspens turning gold in Central Colorado, that is from the Front Range to Utah should occur the week of September 27th.
