Several funeral homes owned by the Lake County Coroner, Shannon Kent, have been shut down.
Kent has also agreed to cease any such operations in Colorado, according to a state order issued this week.
Authorities in October found an unrefrigerated body, bags of unlabeled remains and an abandoned stillborn infant at funeral homes in Leadville and Gypsum. Investigators also found at least one instance in which a family received cremains for their stillborn child mixed with bits of adult body parts and metal fragments.
Kent owned and operated Bailey-Kent Funeral home in Leadville, Everett Family Funeral Home in Gypsum, Hegmann Funeral Service in Idaho Springs, and Runyan-Kent Mortuary in Fairplay.
