Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center and West Custer County Hospital District have signed an agreement that will result in HRRMC taking over operations of the West Custer County Medical Center in Westcliffe.
Once established, HRRMC will provide services under the name Custer County Health Center (CCHC).
WCCMC will discontinue operations and CCHC will begin providing services to Custer County residents after it is certified as a hospital-based rural health clinic, a certification process that will take approximately
three to five months.
“We’ve been meeting with the WCCHD board of directors for several months now, and we are confident that this collaboration will expand and enhance services for the residents of Custer County, and increase
patient utilization at HRRMC and with the medical providers in our district,” said HRRMC CEO Bob Morasko.
In addition to the family medicine nurse practitioners currently providing services at WCCMC, a full-time, board-certified family medicine physician will be joining the staff permanently in Westcliffe starting in early October.
HRRMC has specialty providers currently offering services at WCCMC. HRRMC also provides direct access lab testing and free prescription medication delivery on weekdays from its retail pharmacy in Salida.
Residents do not need to be a patient of the clinic to receive this free delivery service for their medications, they only need to enroll with the HRRMC retail pharmacy.
