The 24 Fire burning on Fort Carson land along Highway 115 in Fremont County has rapidly expanded to 4,600 acres and remains 0% contained, according to the latest updates from officials.

Due to ongoing fire activity, Highway 115 remains closed as crews work to contain the blaze and ensure public safety. Firefighters are facing challenging conditions, with two heavy aircraft and approximately 170 personnel currently assigned to suppression efforts.

Evacuation measures have been put in place as a precaution. A mandatory evacuation order covers a 2-mile radius surrounding the fire, while residents within a 3-mile zone are under pre-evacuation notice and should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. An evacuation center has been established at Pathfinder Park in Florence to support displaced residents.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In response to heightened fire danger, Fremont County has enacted Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Additional restrictions have also been issued by various agencies across the region. Residents and visitors are strongly urged to be aware of their location and to research and follow all applicable fire restrictions in their area.
