On February 18th, at approximately 9:27 pm, the Salida Police Department was dispatched to an armed robbery that had occurred at the Shell gas station at 1046 East US Highway 50.

The communication center advised that the reporting party said he was an employee of the Shell station and he had just been robbed at gun point.

Members of the Salida Police Department and Chaffee Sheriff’s Office immediately responded. In speaking with the victim, it was learned that a male subject came into the store with a gun and demanded items from him. The clerk gave the male subject the items and the then fled the store on foot. Due to a threat the subject made the store clerk didn’t call the police for 30 minutes.

A short while later, Salida PD was able to obtain the video footage from the store. While watching the video, an officer recognized a stain on a hat that was worn by the male suspect. The subject also had the same hat on during a prior incident involving law enforcement. The information was relayed to officers in the area.

22-year-old Cody Lambert of Salida, was placed into custody. Cody was charged with:

  • C.R.S. 18-4-302—Aggravated Robbery
