CBI: Nearly 200 Bodies have been removed from Penrose Funeral Home

In an update released through the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation now says that 189 decomposing bodies have been removed from the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose. 

The initial investigation reported 115 bodies had been stored improperly.

CBI is now going through the identification process and family notifications. According to authorities, the Fremont County Coroner’s Office will begin family notifications over the next several days with no timeline for completion.

There is also a victim’s assistance office set up at 1901 East Main in Canon City.
