A man has died after a commercial boating accident on the Arkansas River just past the Royal Gorge Bridge.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, several passengers fell out of the boat just past Boat Eater Rapid Monday afternoon. A 60-year-old man was pulled out of the water but was unresponsive. Guides immediately pulled the boat to the side of the river and one began CPR while the other grabbed a heart defibrillator that are stationed along the river.
Despite best efforts and continuing CPR, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.
At this time the identity of the man is not being released.
This marks the 12th confirmed water-related death in Colorado this year.
