Winter Storm Warning in effect through Monday, Oct. 25th. Up to 16 inches of snow is possible with dangerously low wind chills.
The Winter Storm Warning is for Lake County Below 11,000 feet, Chaffee County Below 9,000 feet, and Northwestern Fremont County Above 8,500 feet.
Record cold temperatures and sub-zero wind chills are expected this morning, and once again tonight.
Returning precipitation chances are expected across the southern mountains and parts of the plains Tuesday night into Wednesday night. A wintry mix of snow, rain, and freezing rain is possible with the highest chances for freezing rain expected near the Colorado and Kansas border late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
