A Westcliffe man is facing charges of procurement of a child for sexual exploitation and soliciting for child prostitution after allegedly arranging to meet an underage girl in exchange for gaming gift cards.

58-year-old James Barry Vrasic was arrested by Custer County Sheriff’s Office and was released on a $1,000 bond. According to the arrest affidavit, law enforcement was given a printed copy of a chat between Vrasic and an underage female. That chat and two gaming gift cards were seized for evidence.

In a press release, Custer County Sheriff Rich Smith said protecting children in Custer County is the highest priority of his office. Smith said, “We are continuing to process digital evidence and anticipate making additional arrests in this case.”

This Fall, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a seminar for parents to provide information on protecting their children from becoming victims of these types of crimes.

Vrasic will appear in Custer County Court for a status conference September 5th.
