More than a dozen alleged victims have spoken with law enforcement about unwanted sexual contact from a Westcliffe chiropractor.

Formal charges have been filed on behalf of four female patents who allege that 78-year-old Dr. Luis Marquez was sexually inappropriate during his treatment.

During a preliminary hearing yesterday, Custer County District Judge Lynette Wenner found sufficient cause to bind over the cases for trial. Marquez’ defense attorney, Ernest Marquez, said that there was a “complete lack of evidence” describing the standards of chiropractic care and asked for the cases be dismissed.

The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners has suspended Marquez’ license pending the outcome of the court proceedings.

Marquez will next appear in court July 12th.
