The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for a storm system that’s set to impact the area beginning Thursday (Dec. 23).
The snow will develop along the Divide starting Thursday and will drop to the valleys by Thursday night.
The storm system is expected to intensify Friday and into Christmas Day. The mountains could see up to a foot of new snow by Saturday, while 1 to 3 are possible in the valleys. Winds could gust up to 50 mph at times in the valleys and 70 mph in the mountains. Snow, heavy at times, and gusty winds could result in blowing snow and dangerous travel.
