An effort is underway in Walsenburg to recall the city’s council members and mayor.
According to the Walsenburg City Clerk, seven petitions were submitted this week for review. Those petitions are wanting a recall election for all six council members and the city’s mayor.
Each petition provides different reasons for a recall, but all the petitions agree on one key issue: water. Petitioners say people within Walsenburg are always being put on water restrictions and billing from the city has been consistently inconsistent.
Petitioners have 60 days to acquire the appropriate number of signatures on each petition to trigger a recall election.
