Citizens and business owners of Villa Grove met with County Commissioners, the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado State Patrol, and concert organizers Live Nation last night to discuss plans and concerns about the Seven Peaks Music Festival Labor Day Weekend.
Live Nation said the festival, headlined by country superstar Dierks Bentley, is anticipating 12,000 to 13,000 fans, down from their original estimate of 20,000.
One of the main concerns brought up by residents was that they weren’t notified by Commissioners of the festival’s desire to move to Villa Grove after leaving Buena Vista in 2021. The commissioners said that obligation fell to the festival organizers who had sent out letters of intent to residents.
Captain Brett Williams of the Colorado State Patrol announced a comprehensive plan with the Colorado Department of Transportation and other law enforcement agencies to ensure traffic disruptions are kept to a minimum, and impaired drivers are swiftly dealt with. During peak times, up to 50 additional officers, deputies, and troopers will be on site—including BLM and Forest Service Agents, and the speed limit will be temporarily lowered to 35 through Villa Grove.
The Seven Peaks Music Festival is set for September 2nd through the 4th and tickets are available now at SevenPeaksFestival.com.
